Foreword
Why put together an anthology of writing by Christian people?
What is the purpose of this idea?
These are the sorts of questions I was frequently asked when I launched this project under the umbrella "Arts 4 Revival". My reply, quite simply, is this; God created us to be creative worshipful beings, he has gifted so many of us with the ability to write, to sketch, to paint, to create beautiful craft-work, to sing to dance to and to make music, but often, sadly, many of us have little or no natural outlet to share the talents and gifts God has so blessed us with.
I believe that God has tasked me to assist in helping each and every one of us to release the gifts he has so generously given us to the benefit of all and to the greater glory of God and to our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The church of St. Peter, in the district of Broadwater in Stevenage, is blessed with an abundance of talented individuals in so many aspects of the arts; within this collection, "Blessed Presence" the writers among us have their chance to "Shine".
No one said life would be easy, indeed Christ did not promise us an easy road if we follow him. As Christians we may carry with us the certain hope of life eternal, the love of God, the grace of our Lord Jesus, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and of our fellow Christians but, we live in the world, we suffer pain and illness, we grieve for those we have lost and we cry, often deep inside, as many of the poems and prayers within will testify, but above all else we have hope and love in abundance.
It is of course right and proper to question whether there is any Biblical foundation for such a project, should you feel so inclined I would urge that you need look no further than the Psalms.
